The Nashville Metros professional soccer franchise and WNSR Sports Radio 560-AM have teamed to produce a new weekly radio show devoted to soccer. The new show is titled The Soccer Hour presented by the Nashville Metros and will air every Tuesday at 9 a.m. Each week, The Soccer Hour presented by the Nashville Metros highlights the world of soccer (locally, regionally, nationally and internationally) especially with the World Cup tournament to be held in June and July in South Africa. The Nashville Metros are excited about joining WNSR in presenting the first soccer radio show in the history of Tennessee. Metros co-owner Lynn Agee said, We know there is a strong soccer fan base already existing in Nashville and middle Tennessee, but we also want to capture the excitement and zeal for the World Cup and bring that and more to soccer fans, both on the radio dial and on the Internet.
Each week, The Soccer Hour presented by the Nashville Metros will highlight the soccer news of the day, talk to the movers and shakers in the world of soccer, get fans caught up on the Nashville Metros, spotlight an area youth recreation league and get listeners in the soccer conversation. Along with the Nashville Metros, WNSR Sports Radio 560 is excited about the opportunity to tap into a strong soccer fan base that continues to grow and will get a big boost from the World Cup. WNSR station manager Jeff Kolb said, This is a great addition to our already vast lineup of local sports programming.
The show's hosts are former Metros head coach Rico Laise, Director of Soccer Operations for the Harpeth Youth Soccer Association, and Greg Pogue, host of The Morning Sports Page on WNSR and executive sports editor of The Daily News Journal.
Founded in 1989, the Nashville Metros is the longest continuously owned and operated franchise in the United Soccer League. The team competes in the USL's Premier Development League. Please visit NashvilleMetrosSoccer.com, WNSR.com and dnj.com.
