Metros to Face Mississippi and Atlanta in Final Home Games of the Season

The Nashville Metros will play host to the Mississippi Brilla and the Atlanta Blackhawks on Saturday and Sunday respectively. The Metros will play at Siegel Park Stadium in Murfreesboro on Saturday when they battle the Brilla, and return to the comforts of their home, Ezell Park, on Sunday to face long time rival Atlanta.

The Metros are riding high off the momentum of a 2-2 tie with the Southeastern Conference leaders the Bradenton Academics last Friday night. Jason Bristol and Garrett Mclaughin Scored the Metros goals. Both came off set plays served in by Dustin Dawes. “This was a huge result for our guys,” said coach Richard Askey after the game.

Saturday wont be any easier when the Brilla stroll into Music City. The Brilla are three points behind the Academics in the standings and a win Saturday would move them into first place. This will be crucial going into the final week of season with both teams still in the hunt for a birth in the PDL playoffs.

The defense will be asked once again to come up big when the division’s second leading scorer, Debola Ogunseye, comes into town. Ogunseye plays collegiately at Ricardo Clark and Clint Dempsey’s alma mater, Furman University. He torched the Metros for 2 goals in their first meeting, earning a spot on the PDL’s Team of the Week.

The Metros defense, led by Jason Bristol of West Virginia University and Ryan McDonald of the University of Louisville, should be up to the challenge.
